>California Local and State Elected Leaders Call on Obama Transition Team to Save Friendship Park

San Diego, CA | Nine political leaders in San Diego city, state and federal government are calling upon the President-Elect Barack Obama Transition Team to intervene to save Friendship Park. Following efforts in other states like Texas, where a coalition of local and state leaders have also called for a halt to construction of the border wall, a large coalition of San Diego activists, environmentalists, and human rights organizations have successfully gained support from political leaders to save the park. Signatories on the memo include: John Garamendi, Lt. Governor of the State of California; Susan A. Davis, Member of US Congress; Bob Filner, Member of US Congress; Denise Moreno Ducheny, California State Senator; Christine Kehoe, California State Senator; Mary Salas, California Assemblymember; Lori Saldana, Assemblymember; Donna Frye, San Diego City Councilmember; and Ben Hueso, San Diego City Councilmember.
