Next generation of gay pride kids
Gay pride is not the first thing that pops into your mind when you think of Tijuana, but today the spirit and depth of this movement in Tijuana was visible in the crowd and participants in the PRIDE parade.
Today was the 16th annual PRIDE parade, carrying on a tradition begun in 1996 when 85 brave GLBT Tijuanenes staged the first celebration.
This year, hundreds participated and the excitement spilled over into the Plaza de Santa Cecilia nearby as people gathered for music, dance, and good times.
Human Rights Activist Ron DeHarte served as the International Grand Marshall of this year’s parade. As an entrepreneur, he established his own successful consulting firm, deHarte Group, LLC in 2003 and provides management solutions for the non-profit sector including community enhancement programs, event production, equal rights advocacy, and artist representation.
