Plaza Revolución en Tijuana

Another key space in Tijuana’s cultural revival is opening this weekend. Tijuana’s Plaza Revolución will celebrate its grand opening on Sunday, July 15. Plaza Revolución represents the third new cultural pasaje opened in the past two years as part of the revival of the historic Tijuana downtown. Like Pasaje Rodriguez, Pasajes Gomez & Madero, Plaza Revolución will feature arts & culture businesses–photography, graphic design, couture, restaurants and coffeeshops.

The opening is sponsored by the collective Queremos Tijuana, headed by arts & culture promoter Max Mejia. A full weekend of activities is planned, with art, dance, live music, and theatre on Friday, July 13 and Saturday, July 14, at Plaza Santa Cecilia on Avenida Puente.

Plaza Revolución is located inside the pasajes at 942 Avenida Revolución, between 3rd and 4th streets.  Enter through Pasaje Gomez right next to Tacos La Especial. Pasaje Rodriguez is located right across the street, on Avenida Revolución between 3rd and 4th streets next to the entrance to Caliente Casino.

If you’re coming from the U.S. side, park and walk across, catch a taxi in front of the McDonald’s and ask them to take you to the Centro or Avenida Revolución between 3rd & 4th street near Caliente.

The festival includes a series of workshops & discussions about public space, dance, and film.
